Check out our new plasma TV

So we sold our big huge bulky TV to save room for our new house, we are going to get a new slimmer TV. But then I plugged inthe portable DVD player into the VCR and then ran the cable to the VCR so now we don't even need a new TV. It saves so much space and now we don't have to buy a TV! It is great have a 7 inch digital screen with the sleek plasma design. I am hoping to upgrade to hi def and getting some computer speakers and just totally having the home theater experince I have always imagined. I love being a technical genius. and so Feng shui.

yes I am a lot like Michael Scott, in more ways than just the TV

Vote now or forever hold your peace

Be sure to vote for the poll on the right. I know the font is hard to see but I couldn't figure out how to change it without doing a major reformat, but it is very important for us to know who is cooler. I know who I am voting for. Ok, so Kim won 7 to 5, I knew she would. I married up and I am proud of it

Happy Earth Day!!! Reduce, Reuse, Repent

Knowing the stewardship we have over the earth and with my husband being a biologist we have become a bit greener lately. I am very ashamed to say that up until a month ago I had never recycled. We had a family home evening lesson on how we are stewards over the earth and need to be responsible so we have gone full force into a reduce, reuse, recycle plan!!! Hooray, we love it. Every time I throw another container into the recycle bin I feel so good about myself (little victories are important). It is crazy that more than half of our trash is recyclable. We have also changed other things in our life as well. Choosing more whole and/or organic foods when we can and always taking the time to cook a planned meal. We got Green Works cleaner, which works great, and energy saving light bulbs, both at Sam's Club so the price was nice in bulk (is that an oxymoron: ecofriendly in bulk:). Sam has also started making bread instead of buying it. Our ultimate going green effort was done involuntarily. In February our car broke down so for a month we went everywhere on bikes. I loved going to the park with the kids in the bike trailer...so cute. So forget your past sins and move to a greener future:) The Earth is Great!!!

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day one and all, may your thoughts be filled with reusing, reducing, and recycling, and buy carbon credits like Al Gore. I love the earth boomdiada boomdiada!

Has anyone seen this movie? I think I might rent it this weekend, but Ben Stein's voice might put me to sleep, so I will have to do it in the day time. Here is my 2 cents on the subject.
No offense to people who believe in intelligent design, but this video seems to present a very one sided and skewed argument. In my opinion evolution is the best theory to fit the evidence, intelligent design also fits the evidence but is based on belief in a supreme being and has little to no way of being tested. If evidence was found that showed intelligent design was a better scientific theory then I think we would be accepting it more than evolution. Firthermore, I think that evolution IS an intelligent design, in fact it is the basis of our economoy (choice, competition, and survival of the adequate). I feel it also has many religious parallels. Why couldn't God have used evolution? These are issues that I would like to see if this film addresses or not. Yes, evolution is a theory, but so is the concept of gravity, the theory of relativity, and other scientific explanations for the world around us. But, I see no contradiction between these theories and the word of God. But again, don't take my word for it, if you feel it is important, find out for yourself. It isn't vital to our salvation to know how the world and people came to be so I don't feel like evolution should be a religious issue, but evolution is vital to understanding biology, that is why it is taught, it fits the facts. that is my story and I am sticking to it.

We live in a cool place

I was e-mailed this video from my sister Julia, I love the world around us.

a moment of silence for the pink flowered couches.

Well, we are in the process of selling everything we own basically so that we can buy one nice new couch to go in our petite house. Today our pink flowered couches sold and as the buyer left a wave of sadness came over me. When my mom first got those couches we all thought they were the most beautiful things we had ever scene. As the styles changed and the parents upgraded, me and Sam inherited them. They have been through a lot in the past 13 years and except for the dingy fabric, are still in perfect condition. I called my mom and told her. We started to think of all the things those couches have endured: Parties, mission calls, Family Home Evenings, Family Fight Nights, babies, sleepovers, dance parties, wedding receptions... So all those who have memories of those couches write in and share a thought.

Bed Head and Bad Parents

Luke had major bed head this morning, but instead of combing his hair before we went out, we barely noticed as we went out the door and started taking pictures and laughing once we got to the park. Good thing he doesn't seem to care."

Tornado Warning

So occasionally we have tornado warnings, but a week ago it was pretty close to us, The tornado sirens even went off. There were about 20 minutes where the news told us to go to a place in our home with no windows. Our hallway can be closed in and is the only place with no windows so we hung out there for a little bit. Sammy made a bed out of a box and the boys watched a movie while we laid down on the ninja turtle couch which is a child size foam couch that folds out into a child's size sleeping pad. We thought it was funny.

We bought a house today.

It seems unreal, but today our offer on a house was accepted and we are so excited!!!! It is a small two bedroom house, but is super charming and has a big fenced in backyard. Actually I am excited to find interesting, small space organizational solutions. I love that show...actually I forgot the name, but it shows how people make their small spaces ultra functional. Anyway, I am freaking out, I can't believe we are going to be home owners. I still feel like I am 15 years old and now I have a mortgage. Here are some pictures

Kim the stylist

Kim gave me a haircut. This is the first time she has cut my hair and probably the first time she has cut the hair of a full grown human. She did a great job and I love the doo. Here are some head shots, Sorry I am not wearing a shirt.

Bad News

So I have been sick for the last couple of weeks since spring break and I don't know what is wrong with me. I hate going to the doctor so I finally went today because my nose is all white and puffy. So they did a bunch of tests for hours and hours and gave me some pain medication and asked me hundreds of questions about the dpeth of my research and finally started telling me what they think is happening. Apparantley the bats that I had been working with on my trip had a new disease that has been killing bats in the New York, see article http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/25/science/25bats.html. They don't know exactly what it will do to me, but I am the first known case to have transmitted this same disease in humans. I am feeling fine and I am not worried, apparently they can treat the side affects even though they don't know what the cause is, but that by studying me they will probably have a better idea of how to save the bats. I thought that is cool that I could be part of research that may help bats rather than them being the subjects themselves. Anyway, I don't want anyone to get worried because they said by tomorrow it will probably all clear up anyway, I mean it is April 1, 2008, it is amazing what they can do with science these days. HAHAHA!
