Happy Earth Day!!! Reduce, Reuse, Repent
Knowing the stewardship we have over the earth and with my husband being a biologist we have become a bit greener lately. I am very ashamed to say that up until a month ago I had never recycled. We had a family home evening lesson on how we are stewards over the earth and need to be responsible so we have gone full force into a reduce, reuse, recycle plan!!! Hooray, we love it. Every time I throw another container into the recycle bin I feel so good about myself (little victories are important). It is crazy that more than half of our trash is recyclable. We have also changed other things in our life as well. Choosing more whole and/or organic foods when we can and always taking the time to cook a planned meal. We got Green Works cleaner, which works great, and energy saving light bulbs, both at Sam's Club so the price was nice in bulk (is that an oxymoron: ecofriendly in bulk:). Sam has also started making bread instead of buying it. Our ultimate going green effort was done involuntarily. In February our car broke down so for a month we went everywhere on bikes. I loved going to the park with the kids in the bike trailer...so cute. So forget your past sins and move to a greener future:) The Earth is Great!!!

YEAH! Happy Earth Day!!
melaleuca stuff is earth friendly, which is why i use them. also annie got us started using permanent grocery bags (thanks to eva for sending them up). everybody do your part....
everyone needs to watch the movie "affluenza". it is old but good. you probably can get it at the library. good project for earth day.
Hey mom stole my comment!! :o) We traded in our plastic for reusable Trader Joe's bags... they are GREAT!
I think it's amazing that you have changed so many things! Recycling is wonderful, making bread is fabulous, and riding bikes instead of using the car is incredible! GO HIRTS GO! Awesome and inspiring really. :o)
dude, kim whose baby is that on the front of you?
I learned a trick while I was home in March. 2 cups cooked oatmeal to your 2 loaf bread batch makes for extra moist bread (it also turns it into 3 loaves but I just use the extra dough and make cinnamon rolls or meat-filled rolls...mmmm)
I am amazed every week how much rec ycling we have and makes me think how lame it would be to throw all that away if we could recycle it! Its not conveneint but yes...small things that make you feel better add up to a good boost!
Yeah for earth day! BOOMDIADA.
Oh and just cook the oatmeal for like a minute or two in the microwave....no stove-top.
That baby is Luke when he's was just a little dude. I just put in pics of the earth because it was earth day :)
